BJJ Legend Bia Mesquita Signs with UFC
Bia Mesquita is officially a UFC fighter.
The 10 time IBJJF world champion and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu legend has made the leap to MMA’s biggest stage after capturing the LFA strawweight title in commanding fashion. Her signing with the UFC marks a major shift in the division, and a clear warning shot to the 115-pound elite.
Mesquita’s arrival in the UFC wasn’t sudden. It was built, tested, and earned. Since transitioning from jiu-jitsu to MMA, she’s been nothing short of surgical. Her LFA run was a showcase of control, precision, and raw athleticism, topped by a statement performance in her title fight where she secured a 2nd round TKO over Sierra Dinwoodie.

But this isn’t about the past. Mesquita’s MMA evolution is what’s turning heads. Her striking is sharper. Her wrestling is tighter. And when the fight hits the mat, it’s game over. She’s not just submitting opponents, she’s dismantling them.
Now signed to the UFC, Mesquita enters a crowded bantamweight division with serious momentum. But make no mistake, she’s not here to make up the numbers. She’s coming for the top.
At First Round Management, the move is seen as both a culmination and a launchpad.
Mesquita’s UFC debut is set for October 11, 2025. Mesquita will take on Irina Alekseeva for UFC Rio de Janeiro in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
