Yoel Romero Knocks Out 6’6” Heavyweight at Dirty Boxing Championship
Yoel Romero needed almost every second of three rounds to take down the towering Ras Hylton in the first official Dirty Boxing Championship event.
Days after Jon Jones announced his ownership stake in the promotion alongside Mike Perry, Romero headlined a packed card at The Hangar in Miami. The former UFC middleweight contender, standing just 5’10”, faced the 6’6” heavyweight Hylton in a true David vs. Goliath matchup. Romero weighed in at 225 pounds, 40 pounds heavier than his UFC prime, but still gave up over 30 pounds to Hylton, who tipped the scales at 256.

From the start, the size difference was clear. Hylton used his reach advantage effectively, staying behind a steady jab and forcing Romero into wild swings, including an early Superman punch.
Romero found success targeting the body in the second round. Sensing urgency, he pressed forward, turning up the intensity. His persistence paid off in the final stretch when he landed a clean two-punch combination, punctuated by a powerful hook that sent Hylton crashing to the canvas.
The referee waved it off immediately, giving Romero the knockout win just in time.
