Franco Tenaglia Became The New BKFC Lightweight Champion
Franco Tenaglia became the new BKFC lightweight champion on October 12, following a hard-fought battle against Tony Soto at the Marbella Arena in Marbella, Spain. Tenaglia, originally from Argentina but now based in Spain, secured the victory by majority decision after five intense rounds. One judge scored the fight 46-46, while the remaining two scored it 47-45 in favor of Tenaglia, giving him the edge over Soto, who hails from Hickory, North Carolina.
With this win, the 28-year-old Tenaglia improved his undefeated record to 4-0 and captured the BKFC title.
After the fight, Tenaglia shared his excitement and sense of accomplishment, saying, “I’ve been waiting 10 years for this. Look at me now. I’m a world champion.”
Conor McGregor Doubled Their Purse
After witnessing the fight, new BKFC co-owner Conor McGregor was so impressed that he interrupted BKFC President David Feldman during a discussion about bonuses. McGregor, clearly moved by the fighters’ performances, not only awarded them bonuses but also doubled their fight purses. Both Tenaglia and Soto put on a spectacular show, earning high praise and the unexpected reward from McGregor.
