Mike Perry Announces Dirty Boxing Championship
Ahead of his bout with Jake Paul on Saturday, Mike Perry has announced the launch of his own combat sports organization, Dirty Boxing Championship.
The new league’s website describes the sport as a unique fusion of MMA and traditional boxing.
“We are revolutionizing combat sports by putting a unique spin on the ancient art of boxing (the sweet science) and establishing the first modern dirty boxing organization.
Dirty Boxing Championship is new super-fast and close-action combat sport that packs world class MMA and vintage boxing into a pair of five-ounce gloves and an 18-foot certifiably “DIRTY” competition ring.”
The championship will feature a “ground and pound” rule, permitting fighters to strike opponents while they are down. Participants will use five-ounce gloves designed to enhance impact while offering some protection to prevent broken knuckles and fingers.
“My team and I have been developing this for a while,” Perry said. “We’ve hinted at it, and now we’re ready to announce that it’s coming soon. We’re nearing approval from commissions, and we’re eager to recruit athletes, organize a card, and host a fight sometime this year.”
Before Perry can fully focus on his new venture, he aims to secure a victory against Paul on Saturday. Perry, with an extensive background in MMA and bare-knuckle boxing, has only one professional boxing match under his belt from 2015.
Paul was initially slated to fight Mike Tyson, but the legendary boxer had to postpone due to a medical issue. Perry stepped in as a replacement for Tyson in the upcoming fight.
